Capitol
Records produced by Capitol prior to 3310, that are within the scope of this Web site, are on a purple label with a large (about 1/2") Capitol logo at the top. Other styles and changes are detailed below. Second presses exist on the swirl label that can easily be identified by the addition of "A Subsidiary Of Capitol Industries" at the bottom of the label. The wording did not exist on originals until about 1969. None of the original Beatle recordings should have this wording. It should also be pointed out that after record number 5999, Capitol started over with number 2000 instead of going to 6000 which was already being used for the Starline series.
The remainder of the reproductions
are all Beatle records, and all suffer from a lack of label detail (small print
is not sharp). In addition, originals with the exception of 5407 and 5555 were
machine stamped with a small triangle which can be used for additional
verification. 5407 had a machine stamped number.
