The Waterfalls

A branch of the Spokane River flows into the lake from sources further north, dropping about 300-feet in elevation along its route. There are two waterfalls in the river with the largest occuring along the northeastern shore of the lake.The smaller 'upper' waterfall is equally as impressive but is accessible only by hiking about a mile up the river from the lake.
     The face of the larger waterfall is formed from enormous boulders which create numerous pools for wading or bathing (sans soap, of course). In contrast, the face of the upper waterfall is formed of massive, smooth polished rock with a clear pool at the base.
