Ideas About Arrangement Where Sounds Are Like Words

by John Hudak

From: The Cassette Mythos, Autonomedia 1990

Sound = increment of syntax.
Patterns of sound could interact as sentences.
Repetition is important.
Sequential arrangements in repetitions can lull the mind, catch it off guard where something new can enter = defeating the blocking mechanism.
Boring is not bad.
Boring like a drill means passing through.
Repetition is the means of passing through.
A particular repetition reference is that of bored; similar repetitions, although more a matter of insistence than repetition.
Nothing is ever repeated the same way.
The background always changes, moves against itself.
Who causes what and what is the effect.
Do patterns and repetitions exist to be discovered.
Sound words = syntax = sound sentences = communication.
Taking sound from natural habitat and displacing it, moving it into a position where it can take on a new meaning = take on an old meaning = take on an extended meaning.
Random versus intentional = purposeless versus purposeful.
Can random elements be deemed intentional or moreover can intentional elements be deemed random.
When human elements are in control, to what extent are the elements purposeful.
Must one have something in mind = a playful purpose = a purpose to be playful.
Can presenting random elements effect the overall perception of the elements.
Attitude = elements = state of mind.
