Section crews are the "unglamorous" heroes of the "high iron." Without them, nothing would turn a wheel. While the public knows the Milwaukee Road for its speeding passenger trains like the Hiawatha; it is really the well-maintained track and roadbed that makes it all possible. A section hand and his foreman have gotten an early start this morning and are discussing today's work between passing streamliners.
