The "high-iron" gets all the glitz and attention, but the "nut's and bolts" of railroading used to the "loose car" business. Before the days of double-stacks and unit-trains, it was just a delivery here and a delivery there. On the Milwaukee, these types of movements are called "patrols." These two crewmen are trying to get their "signals together" after a miscommunication over the hand-signals of a "rookie." |
